The Pontifical Lateran University organizes classical language courses (Latin and Greek) for its students and external students. For those who are not already enrolled in an academic program at a Faculty, it is necessary to register as a guest student at the CLAS Coordination.
For those who are already enrolled as ordinary or extraordinary students at the University, the courses must be included, where not already present, in their study plan with the consent of the Dean /Principal if the course is not a prerequisite of their path academic. An exception is made for the students of the Master’s Degree in Law who, if they have not attended high schools that include the study of the Latin language in their curriculum, must register with the CLAS Coordination and follow the intensive course organized in the first semester.
An entrance test is required for all classical language courses.
Greek Language I (70001) – Prof. Gianluca ORSOLA
Knowledge of classical Greek is required for all students of the first cycle of Philosophy and Theology who have not attended higher institutes that include this discipline in their curriculum or who cannot certify equivalent studies at other institutions approved by the Faculty.
The course takes place in the first semester. There is one lesson per week lasting two academic hours for a total of 30 hours (24 hours of frontal lessons and 6 hours of activities coordinated by the lectturer).

Greek Language II (70008) – Prof. Gianluca ORSOLA
The course intends to deepen the knowledge of Greek language.
The course takes place in the second semester. There is one lesson per week lasting two academic hours for a total of 30 hours (24 hours of frontal lessons and 6 hours of activities coordinated by the teacher).

Intensive Course of Latin Language (30118) – Prof. Corrado CALVANO
The course is reserved only for students of the Faculty of Civil Law who, if they have not attended high schools that include the study of the Latin language in their curriculum, must enroll at the CLAS Coordination and follow the intensive course of about 20 hours organized in the month of December. At the end of the course a judgment of suitability will be expressed by the teacher.
The course is free and not open to external students.
Latin Language I (70002) – Prof. Gianluca ORSOLA
Knowledge of the Latin language is required for all students of the first cycle of Philosophy and Theology and for those with a Licentiate of the Utriusque Iuris Institute who have not attended high schools that include this discipline in their curriculum or who cannot certify equivalent studies at other institutions approved by the Faculty.
The course takes place during the second semester. There is one lesson per week lasting two academic hours for a total of 30 hours (24 hours of frontal lessons and 6 hours of activities coordinated by the lectuer).
